Super Mario Hike

This unique mountain adventure begins right from Longyearbyen and immediately heads into a playful and surprisingly fun ascent through a series of rocky steps, ledges, and natural terraces. The climb often feels like stepping into a real-life Super Mario level, as we make our way higher and higher, hopping between rock formations and constantly gaining elevation. The route maintains a steady sense of progress, building anticipation until we reach the high point of the day, where sweeping Arctic panoramas stretch in every direction.

Rather than retracing our steps, we continue on a spectacular circular route that eventually brings us back to Longyearbyen. The descent leads us into remote glacier terrain, where we cross two glaciers and experience an entirely different side of Svalbard’s wilderness. Moving from rocky mountain ridges onto ancient ice creates a remarkable contrast and keeps the adventure feeling fresh from start to finish. This complete mountain-to-glacier circuit offers an incredible variety of landscapes and is one of the most satisfying ways to explore the wild surroundings of Longyearbyen in a single day.
